from tea, steam rises
swirling, mingling, and laughing
off to join the clouds
in the blessed company
of friends does our spirit soar
I wish you the company of those you love. May you walk in the fellowship of friends. May you feast in the presence of family. And may you rejoice in everyone you see – for all are deserving of love.
a packed ball of snow
explodes in a burst of joy
a gift for a friend
the feeling may fade quickly
but there’s snow for another
I wish you laughter. May it build deep within your spirit. May it shake your whole body. May it remind you not to take things too seriously.
awake from a nap
small eyes peer around the door
“hi Daddy, I’m here”
I wish you the joy in being present. May you find that right now has everything you need. May you be fully awake and attentive to the wonders around you – today, in this moment.
oh to see the gray
of shadowed cloud cover
pierced by the sunlight
the gleaming rays of smiles giv’n
a kindness to those who hurt
I wish you the chance to help one person. May you give with generosity. May you serve with love and compassion. May you smile. And though such actions may feel at times insignificant, may you know that one kind gesture can make all the difference.
the mighty willow
blown and tossed by stormy winds
still holds firm and fast
take courage, be strong, my friend
embrace the fear that assails you
I wish you courage. May you go to the places that scare you. May you lean into the uncertainty. May you embrace your fear.
in full enoughness
there lies riches far beyond
golden halls of kings
I wish you contentment. May you be at peace with who you are. May you find the treasure of enough. May you know that you are worthy.
