So I Wait

The trees wait.

seed
in earth
before birth
its roots growing
slowly gaining their girth
not above the surface showing
and so we wait without at all knowing
when to the plant the bonds of dirt shall then concede
and so we watch in silent unknowing
adding some fresh water flowing
in hope it is of worth
to what’s growing
before birth
from earth
freed

***

waiting
as though at a train station before
an adventure
a big adventure
one of joys that show up in unexpected places
to surprise
and delight
one of nerves on edge for all the uncertainty
the hidden challenges
and dragons lying in wait
one that will leave me forever changed
full of new dreams
not easily forgotten

waiting
as though the train is running a touch
just a touch
behind schedule
and anticipation builds
with each passing moment

waiting
and remembering that waiting is as much
a part of the journey
as the rest

waiting
it’s OK to wait sometimes
so I wait

***

consistent patience
the tree rises foot by foot
to unreachable sky
life is to be and exist
in the endless waiting
